The Yoga Teacher Training program at Bellingham Yoga was established in 2006 at the original Ashtanga Yoga School of Seattle, and has been serving the community of Bellingham since 2012 as Ashtanga Yoga Bellingham and Bellingham Yoga School. It is one of the longest tenured yoga teacher training programs in Washington State. Over time, the program has expanded upon its traditional Ashtanga lineage roots to become more focused on serving the community of Bellingham in a non dogmatic, holistic manner, while respecting the traditional roots of the yoga practices taught by the program. Authentic Yoga Practices

Yoga philosophy comes to us from times long since passed from a culture that was unburdened by the complexities of modernity, and sought a path of surrender to the spirit (purusha) as well as harmony and balance within nature (prakriti). The founders of yoga philosophy were from ancient India, and they gave to all humanity after them an art that accomplishes one great goal most assuredly; the end of human suffering. The path of yoga is simple, yet cannot be learned without guidance. For the insights of yoga are experiential, and based on specific understandings of the duality of nature and spirit.

Many yoga teachers have an understanding of the gross levels of the practice through asana, but very few have made a concerted attempt to explore the deeper, more subtle aspects that are available. The purpose of the 200 hour training is to delve whole heartedly into these deeper aspects, under the guidance of experienced teachers who were once where you are now.
